THE FILM

A documentary about Morocco’s first newspaper written in the everyday language of its readers rather than the formal Arabic traditionally used by the country’s press.

Commissioned by philanthropist Elena Prentice and her Tangier-based NGO, the film explores how accessible language can widen participation in journalism and allow news to speak more directly to the communities it serves.

IMPACT

The film premiered at the Musée de l’Homme in Paris and contributed to the development of educational initiatives encouraging young Moroccan journalists to write in language familiar to a wider public.
