ABOUT THE FILM

Yanis has withdrawn from modern life to build Garp, a self-sufficient community on the Turkish coast overlooking Greece. When Soraya, an Iraqi refugee, survives a violent encounter with the Greek coastguard and hides within the community, his decision to protect her threatens everything he has created.

Blending scripted drama with real people, lived experience and locations around the Aegean, East of West explores migration, belonging and the fragile line between sanctuary and isolation.
